Course overview
Advanced Slurry Pumping & Piping is a practical and interactive course providing engineers with a comprehensive understanding of slurry flow behaviour, slurry pump selection and slurry pipeline design.
The course covers slurry properties, rheology, settling and non-settling slurry behaviour, head loss calculations, deposit velocity determination, pump de-rating methods and slurry piping material selection. Delegates also learn how to select and apply centrifugal and positive displacement pumps for a wide range of slurry applications.
Practical engineering concepts are reinforced through worked examples covering slurry hydraulics, slurry pump performance, pipeline sizing and operational troubleshooting. The course is designed to provide engineers with the knowledge required to design slurry systems in-house and to work more effectively with specialist slurry consultants and equipment suppliers.
The course is particularly relevant to mining, mineral processing, tailings transport, water treatment and industrial slurry handling applications.
Delegate pre-requisites
Delegates should have a basic understanding of hydraulics and some prior exposure to slurry pumping or pipeline systems. Previous attendance at KASA’s Pump Fundamentals and/or Liquid Piping Systems Fundamentals courses is advantageous but not essential.
